About Us

Are you ready to take your game to the next level?

Our mission

That every young hockey player who walks through our doors will leave believing that the only route to success involves motivation, hard work, determination and persistence.

Our goal

"Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect."  - Vince Lombardi

There just isn't enough time during on-ice practices to work on the little things...the small adjustments that improve your shot, split/peripheral vision, stick intensity, hand-eye coordination, etc...the necessary components to take your game to the next level.  Our goal is to provide players with the tools to improve their skills in these areas in an atmosphere that is both intense and fun, teaching them that success comes to those who put in the extra time and work hard while doing it.

Our facility

WE'VE MOVED! Our NEW building will be a shooting & stick handling facility with 7500 square feet of state-of-the-art hockey training aids. Geared for players of all ages and skill levels, we offer a dryland training area devoted to stick handling drills and stations and shooting lanes, as well as a turf strength and conditioning area to up the intensity of our off-ice training and to provide players the opportunity to work on speed, agility, strength, explosiveness, flexibility and endurance. We also share our space with an olympic lifting group, giving us additional strength training opportunities for our athletes.

Why Route 1 Hockey?

"The decision to step away from a career of college coaching was a tough one, but in June of 2017, the needs of family, business and life made it time to do so. I spent the 2017-2018 hockey season coaching my children in the Green Bay Youth Hockey Association. A year removed from a career as a full time coach, I have found a new passion for the game of hockey. With time to reflect on where hockey has taken me and the importance of the people in my life as a result of the game, along with a renewed passion for working with children at a younger level (while struggling to get my own kids work on their game in the basement or garage ;)), I felt it was time to take the next step.  Although I have returned to the college game, my commitment to developing young players in the area has remained.

Green Bay is a great hockey community, where the game and level of play continues to grow and improve. We are so fortunate to have great on-ice facilities in our area and many success stories of players who have made it to the next level. I found through coaching youth players last season, that so many of them have the ability and desire to do more and go further but the resources and time for instruction on an individual basis are so limited during practice. I could only do so much and they just wanted more. My hope is that this facility, and the additional training players are able to receive here, will so great things for hockey in this community."
